“We made the decision today, as the Coach had doubts until lunchtime and opted for Robinho-Kaka. We knew this would have to be perhaps even more defensive than at San Siro,” Tassotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“Mario is not in his best period of form and has suffered from a few problems recently since that injury on international duty.
“There is always the risk of going too deep, but we want to keep the lines close. It seems as if everyone approaches Barcelona the same way, except perhaps Real Madrid.
“We chose not to give Kaka the same duties as the first game, as it was too much to chase Dani Alves everywhere, so we’re putting him more central in the Sergio Busquets area.”
Tassotti was asked whether President Silvio Berlusconi or Adriano Galliani agreed with this decision to drop Balotelli.
“The choice was shared by the club. I don’t know if Allegri spoke to the President or the general manager, but the decisions are always down to the Coach.
“The decision was made based on what we saw in previous games and training sessions. The Coach evaluated the situation and came to these conclusions.
“We know the game is truly very difficult here, but it will be against Chievo on Sunday too. We hope to put in a good performance, though it’s tough for everyone at Camp Nou. We cannot deny we’re not in a good moment.”
