Sporting director Igli Tare says Lazio want “to go to the Champions League” and “maybe win” the Europa League this year.

The Biancocelesti have already won their Europa League group, and currently sit seven points off the top of Serie A with a game in hand.

“My objectives are always unlimited,” Tare told Top Channel in his native Albania.

“What seems unattainable at the moment because reachable thanks to work.

“I want to improve the level of Lazio to reach out goals, to go to the Champions League and above all compete in the Europa League, to be protagonists this year and maybe win.”

Tomas Strakosha, the Aquile goalkeeper, is a fellow Albanian and Tare was asked about his progress.

“He’s very happy here at Lazio, he’s signed a long-term contract and his career has taken a nice turn.

“The most important thing for him is to concentrate on Lazio, because he’s playing consistently for a big club.

“He and [Gianluigi] Donnarumma are the only goalkeepers under 23 playing regularly for a big club in Italy. I think his career will be long and very successful.”

It has been suggested that Tare could become the President of the Albanian federation one day…

“Maybe in the future,” the former striker said.

“At the moment no, because I’m still very attached to the pitch, to the team, to day-to-day football.

“That’s what gives me my lust for life, but I’d definitely like to contribute to Albanian football one day.”
