Wojciech Szczesny shrugged off reports of a potential move to Bayern Munich as a replacement for Inter-bound Yann Sommer. ‘As long as Juventus want me, I am staying here.’

The goalkeeper was mentioned in both German and Italian reports as an heir to Sommer in Munich, should Inter meet the €6m asking price for Switzerland international Sommer.

“Every summer there is talk about me, but it always ends the same way,” shrugged Szczesny to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper during their pre-season tour of the USA.

“As long as Juventus want me, then I am staying here. And it seems to me that they want me,” he grinned.

Now 33, the Poland international only signed a new contract in June that will hold him to the Turin giants until 2025.

He joined the Bianconeri from Arsenal in a deal worth €18m in the summer of 2017, having previously spent two years on loan in Serie A at Roma.

Juventus were excluded from the Conference League by UEFA due to financial irregularities, which had also seen them docked 10 Serie A points to drop from third place to seventh in the table.

“We proved on the pitch that Juve deserve to be in the Champions League and that is where we belong, but we are not there due to issues off the field.”
