Wojciech Szczesny has landed in Rome to complete his medicals, confirming that he will stay with Roma permanently.

The player was picked up from Arsenal on loan last year, and many expected him to go back this summer. This may have included some of Roma's directors, as Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson is thought by some to have been signed as a prospective replacement for Szczesny.

However, it seems the Pole will remain in the Italian capital for good and fight for his starting place against the 23-year-old.

Szczesny's plane from London landed today, and the player is currently having his medicals ahead of signing an official contract.

“Forza Roma,” he said upon landing. “I'm fine, and I'm happy to be back.”
