Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says he is 'really happy at Roma', whilst discussing the team's Champions League campaign.

The 25-year-old's future is completely open at the moment, as it remains unclear whether the Giallorossi will renew his loan from Arsenal for another year, sign him permanently, or send him back to England and find a replacement.

“Everyone knows I'm really happy here,” Szczesny told Sky Sport Italia, opening to a longer spell with the club. “I'd like to be able to tell you about my future, but I don't know what it holds for me. I've expressed my intentions to the two clubs and now it's up to them. I have to decide what's best for my career.

“The Scudetto race? Obviously our performances between October and the middle of January are what ruled us out of contention. Before then we were playing well and since [Coach Luciano] Spalletti came in we've been superb. It's hard to say what happened but we must be consistent next season – that will be key.

“Of course we want to secure Champions League qualification. We want to keep this run going that we've been on over the last ten games. It's all about performing consistently. Hopefully we can finish on a high and make sure we qualify.”

Szczesny was then asked whether it helped to work with an unchanging set of players in defence.

“The more you play together, the better your understanding becomes. There's no doubt about the quality of the players and if we keep working as well as we have been, the results will keep coming.”

Finally, the goalkeeper commented on Leicester's campaign in the Premier League.

“No one in football can explain the Leicester miracle. Even though I support Arsenal in the Premier League, I'd like to see [Coach Claudio] Ranieri's side win it. They're an example and an inspiration to everyone. It's exciting to watch them play.”
