“We could certainly have avoided the equaliser. We lacked concentration and they scored a fine goal,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a pity about the result, but we had a good performance, were solid at the back and tried to hit them on the break. Now we go to Turin and have to win.
“You can see the quality in Ajax and the way they play in a very aggressive side, but we already proved against Atletico Madrid that we know how to win at home in this competition.”
Giorgio Chiellini was out injured, replaced by Daniele Rugani in the centre of defence.
“Both Rugani and Leo Bonucci had a good game. We were a bit pinned back for long periods and that inevitably leads to chances, but that was more the attitude of the whole squad and not just the centre-backs.
“The important thing is to always be in the game. Against a side like Ajax, the worst mistake you can make is to get distracted and leave spaces open. We suffered when we needed to and tried to hit them on the counter.
“Ajax are a very different team to us, they play more attacking and aggressive, but we’ll see what happens in the second leg.”
