Italy are set to face Spain tomorrow with Alessio Cerci, Daniel Osvaldo and Gabriel Paletta in the starting XI.

The Azzurri play the reigning World and European Champions in an international friendly on Wednesday at 21.00 GMT.

Cesare Prandelli took the squad out for a final training session at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid this evening.

He lined the players up with this group in the apparent starting XI for the game.

They include Parma’s Argentina-born defender Paletta, who would be given his Italy debut, Zenit full-back Domenico Criscito and PSG midfielder Thiago Motta.

Torino winger Cerci, Juventus striker Osvaldo – on loan from Southampton – and Lazio man Antonio Candreva would complete what appears to be a 4-3-3 formation.

Perhaps in a nod to Juventus after the controversy over calling not 100 per cent fit Giorgio Chiellini, Prandelli does not include Andrea Pirlo in the starting line-up.

Italy: Buffon; Maggio, Paletta, Barzagli, Criscito; Marchisio, Thiago Motta, Montolivo; Candreva, Osvaldo, Cerci
