The surgeon who operated on Roma’s Kevin Strootman assures he’s ‘happy’ following the procedure.

The midfielder went under the knife for the third time yesterday, as he continues to suffer complications from a cruciate ligament injury.

“We had to go back to the previously injured ligament,” Pier Paolo Mariani explained, speaking to Sky.

“The knee was not stable, and he was having difficulty in his rehabilitation, so we tried to compensate with a new surgery to make his recovery quicker.

Mariani is famous for listening to classical music when performing his surgeries, but reveals he chose something rather different for Strootman’s operation.

“I started with Frank Sinatra, but it was too melodic, then I decided to change and go for Whitney Houston.”
