Gerhard Struber says RB Salzburg must keep a close eye on Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolò Barella in a Champions League match tomorrow but insists his players ‘know Inter‘s weaknesses.’

Inter visit RB Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, two weeks after securing a 2-1 win at San Siro.

“We must play openly to cause trouble for Inter’s experienced players. We must be brave like at San Siro,” Struber said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“We know Inter’s weaknesses. Small details will be crucial, so we must be united and concentrated.

“It is not in our nature to sit back, we don’t do it. We’ll see how much space we’ll leave for Inter tomorrow,” the coach continued.

“We must reduce space for players like Calhanoglu and Barella, so they can’t develop their technical qualities. Moreover, we must make the most of support from our fans.”

It remains to be seen if Barella will start as the latest updates from Italy suggest Simone Inzaghi will pick Davide Frattesi in central midfield alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Calhanoglu.

“We must adapt to Inter’s playing style,” added Struber.

“They have great strikers such as Lautaro and Thuram. Arnautovic can offer them different solutions, too, especially when he has the ball. We know him well here in Austria and I am happy he’s returned to action.”

There are reports Inter are interested in RB Salzburg striker Karim Konaté, but Struber is not aware of it.

“I haven’t read this news,” the 46-year-old claimed.

“I am not surprised our players attract interest from other countries, but tomorrow he’ll play for us.”
