Giovanni Stroppa acknowledges Crotone were content to defend against Udinese, but ‘the ends justify the means.’

Just days after their first victory of the Serie A season, beating Spezia 4-1, the Squali reverted to type with a 0-0 draw at the Dacia Arena.

“The ends justify the means,” said the coach in his press conference.

“It might’ve been a game with less quality, but we were up against a team that was in great form and had more technique than we did. They forced us to play an even more defensive match than we had anticipated.

“The result gives consistency to our victory against Spezia, so I am satisfied with the point, considering the opponent we were dealing with.

“Udinese made us run hard throughout and we were a little tired towards the end, so couldn’t make the most of potential counter-attacks.

“Keeping a clean sheet is a real boost too. The team is focused and knows we can have our say this season.”
