The Giallorossi travel to San Paolo tomorrow afternoon for the Derby del Sole in arguably the biggest match of the Serie A weekend.

Luciano Spalletti is without two of his key players, however, as Strootman and Peres will both be absent.

The Dutchman had been struggling with a back injury and had been undertaking gym work in recent days, and it is now confirmed he won’t be fit for the match.

Peres – who was praised by Spalletti in his pre-match Press conference – has also picked up an injury and will miss the trip to the San Paolo.

It’s a particularly heavy blow to lose Strootman, as Radja Nainggolan is not 100 per cent fit either after missing international duty with Belgium.

Thomas Vermaelen, Antonio Rudiger and Mario Rui are long-term absentees.

Roma squad for Napoli: Alisson, Lobont, Szczesny, Manolas, Emerson Palmieri, Fazio, Seck, Juan Jesus, Gerson, Florenzi, De Rossi, Salah, Perotti, Paredes, Nainggolan, El Shaarawy, Totti, Dzeko, Iturbe
