“The game was certainly an uphill struggle, as conceding so early against this Siena is tough, but we always took the initiative against the form team of the moment. I saw a collective improvement in the side,” said the Coach.
Stramaccioni now has seven points from his three matches in charge since replacing Claudio Ranieri.
“After three games I hold on tight to this growth from Inter in terms of possession and mentality. By attacking with so many players we do concede something at the back, but I have seen progress.
“With such a balanced Serie A season, every result is absolutely decisive. Siena are among the best when it comes to counter-attacking and we had problems when Walter Samuel and Joel Obi went off injured.
“We conceded again, but I like to see the glass half-full. Do I believe in third place? Yes, with all my heart. I think our second half was like a manifesto of what this Inter can do, putting in grit, heart and finishing off the game in the best way.”
Stramaccioni also showed some anxiety, as he refused to watch when Milito took the penalty.
“Someone called me at that moment,” he joked.
