“It’s true that Chievo had a stronger start to the match and Wesley Sneijder’s injury certainly didn’t help us,” said the Coach after a 2-0 result at the Bentegodi.
“We then grew and in the second half showed solidity while remaining dangerous in attack. In general, I think the victory was deserved.”
The Nerazzurri have now won all their away games, but struggled badly at San Siro between Serie A and the Europa League.
“The only game we really got wrong was against Roma,” insisted Stramaccioni.
“Against Siena it was a chaotic defeat, as we created so much and didn’t take our chances. We do have to improve, but we are a work in progress and have a lot to do.”
Inter switched to a three-man defence this evening and it proved more successful than it had been under Gian Piero Gasperini last season.
“I think this can be the foundation we can work on in future. It is the best way to use the players at my disposal, a mix of solidity and attacking intent without losing our balance.
“I see the wide players in our system as the barometer of the mentality we need to have. I asked for more courage in going forward and I think it’s the best way to approach games.”
