Andrea Stramaccioni has “no alibis for a poor performance” as Inter were beaten 3-1 by Siena and commented on the debutants.

The Nerazzurri have lost both their games against bottom of the table Siena this season and saw Cristian Chivu sent off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“It is without doubt an ugly defeat and we are very angry,” said the Coach. “We had a few players missing, but there are no alibis for a poor performance.

“Despite the fact we lost, we are still only three points away from the Champions League places, so we cannot give up and have to keep fighting. We can still achieve our objective.

“We’ve got to find ourselves again, as we are still the team who in November were a point off the leaders and had great ambition. We are going through a difficult moment, but I am sure we will get out of it.”

Ezequiel Schelotto and Zdravko Kuzmanovic made their debuts from the start, while Mateo Kovacic came on for the second half.

“There’s no point talking about the new buys, as they have very few training sessions behind them and I don’t like discussing individuals after a defeat,” continued Stramaccioni.

“Kovacic is a player of great quality and made his debut in a difficult game, but showed confidence and character. He is a valuable investment.

“It was a bad performance and we deserved the defeat. In these cases either you cry and despair or you try to get back on track. I prefer the latter.”
