Andrea Stramaccioni praised Inter, dedicated the derby win to the ultras in a Jose Mourinho style and laughed off Milan complaints about the referee.

“I saw two great things, which were the approach Inter took to the derby, especially right at the start. I had not seen such aggression and determination from my men often,” he said of the 1-0 victory.

“In a difficult situation with half the match a man down, we did not allow Milan to perform their greatest strength, which is close passing in and around the box. We forced them wide and never stopped trying to hit them on the break.

“I saw the character of an important team tonight, as it really was difficult to get the win.”

The Nerazzurri are now joint third with Lazio” data-scaytid=”25″>Lazio despite a poor start to the campaign.

“We have to ignore the table right now, as the important thing is to grow mentally and in terms of performance. Of course with 10 men Milan were going to make us suffer, but that’s only to be expected.”

Massimiliano Allegri blamed the referee for this result, arguing Riccardo Montolivo had a goal incorrectly disallowed and there was a penalty on Robinho.

“We were the ones who got someone sent off…” replied Stramaccioni with regards to the Yuto Nagatomo second yellow card.

“I believe if you look at this game overall and think Milan were penalised more than Inter, then it is objectively debatable. It’s a bit of a push that you’re trying to make me say the referee favoured Inter.

“It was a difficult derby for the referee and he saw the incidents that way. Losing a player for the entire second half penalises you a great deal and it’s often better to concede and keep all 11 men on the pitch.

“We need to be more consistent, as there was a moment when Milan had us rocking from left to right. I couldn’t do much from the bench, so my team deserves praise for that performance.

“The only thing we didn’t do as well as we had practiced was sending Coutinho through, as he was trapped between their lines.

“When playing against El Shaarawy, Emanuelson and Bojan, it was not easy for us, but my defenders did well to keep them outside the box for the most part. We managed to deny Milan their most dangerous opportunities.”

Stramaccioni has again earned comparisons with Mourinho, especially after screaming ‘it’s for you’ to the curva after the final whistle.

“It’s not true that I am like Mourinho. The President said that I am a great worker on the field, which is the only comparison I want.

“The curva had shown me a very generous banner after the defeat to Siena and kept supporting us while others jeered. These are things I remember and important values, so this victory is dedicated to my players and to the ultras.”
