Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani says the club are no closer to signing Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow.

The Japanese international is of interest to the Italian giants seeing as his contract will expire in January.

Honda will thus be a free agent at the start of next year, but the Diavolo are trying to snap him up immediately by offering a nominal fee.

“CSKA Moscow don't want to sell Honda, and if they keep on saying no then there's nothing we can do,” the official noted.

“The deal is on hold, also because the CSKA Moscow President is on holiday right now.”

The transfer chief then rubbished reports that the Diavolo were lining up a bid for Cagliari stopper Davide Astori.

“He won’t arrive. We are OK as we are now following the signing of Matias Silvestre. We’re well covered at the back.”

Galliani also commented on the futures of young strikers M’Baye Niang, linked with Genoa, and Andrea Petagna.

“Is Niang is unsellable? I don't know, but I haven't talked with my friend [Genoa President Enrico] Preziosi.

“As for Petagna, he is the player we have received the most offers for, but he is not for sale – absolutely not.”
