The Lega Serie A has taken another 24 hours to decide whether or not Napoli’s trip to Salernitana will be postponed to coincide with the other Scudetto decider, InterLazio.

If the Partenopei win and Lazio fail to pick up all three points at San Siro, then the Serie A title will mathematically go to Luciano Spalletti’s men.

As things stand, Napoli-Salernitana is scheduled for Saturday at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT), whereas Inter-Lazio is on Sunday at 11.30 UK time (10.30 GMT).

The local authorities have urged the Lega Serie A to postpone Napoli’s match so that they are played simultaneously, in case of crowd chaos if they want to celebrate the title and are locked out of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As is often the case in Italy, the decision is being left to the last minute, as initially the Lega Serie A refused to move the game, then suggested another 24 hours to evaluate the options.

The final decision ought to be made at the meeting of the Casms unit on Thursday morning.
