Dejan Stankovic reportedly offered to resign from Sampdoria last night and the club have met the head coach today to discuss his future.

The 44-year-old Serbian coach took over at the Blucerchiati back in October but has been unable to turn around their fortunes, with the team languishing at the bottom of the Serie A table with just 17 points after 32 games.

Sampdoria are 10 points behind 17th place Spezia and seem certain to drop down to Serie B. After their 5-0 loss to Fiorentina on Sunday, Stankovic reportedly offered to resign from his post.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Sampdoria’s morning training session was postponed today in order to allow Stankovic to meet with the club’s management, rumours suggest. The Blucerchiati are still unsure whether to accept his offer or not.

The Serbian coach has only averaged 0.63 points per match across his 24 Serie A matches in charge and financial issues are plaguing the club, leaving them in a tough spot.
