Francesco Acerbi did not shy away from his error and apologised to Inter fans after his painful mistake in the Nerazzurri’s win over Lazio.

The 35-year-old Italian centre back put his team on the backfoot after just 30 minutes when his fatal error allowed the Biancocelesti to steal the ball and go 1-0 up.

Luckily for Acerbi, Inter did not give up and worked hard to find an equaliser, tying the match up at 78 minutes before two late goals allowed them to take home all three points in a crucial win.

Acerbi took to social media to apologise after the win, apologising to the Inter supporters for his error.

“Another three points we could not lose! Forgive me, a mistake that should never be made, especially at this stage of the season!”

The 35-year-old Acerbi has featured heavily under Simone Inzaghi this season, seeing 3051 minutes of action in 39 games across all competitions. In that time, he’s been a reliable and solid option at the back for Inter, making his mistake against Inter uncharacteristic.
