Dejan Stankovic believes Serbia can secure a place in the European Championship qualifying round with a win against Italy on Friday night.

The captain was speaking ahead of the match in Belgrade that the Serbians go into knowing that three points will secure second place in the group.

They can also guarantee a place in the play-off round if they draw and Estonia fail to beat Northern Ireland.

"I expect a spectacular game tomorrow, but also a tough match. The Azzurri are calm in Belgrade and without too much pressure and this could create a few more problems for ourselves.

"It would have been better had the Italians needed to pick up points here against us.

"Playing well and with the support at the Marakana I am sure we can guarantee a place in the play-offs tomorrow before the trip to Slovenia."

Inter midfielder Stankovic also reflected on where Italy are strongest going into Friday's match.

"It is clear that the greatest danger comes from [Andrea] Pirlo, who after last season was not good at Milan, but is playing very well now at Juventus” data-scaytid=”8″>Juventus. Surely it will not be easy.

"The Azzurri have greatly improved their game under [Cesare] Prandelli's guidance."
