Joao Mario’s €40m transfer to Inter is imminent, as Sporting CP President Bruno de Carvalho flew in for final negotiations.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the patron flew in to Milan late Sunday evening.

As reported earlier, the deal is likely to be €10m for the season-long loan with mandatory option to buy for another €30m in 2017, thus spreading out the costs and avoiding Financial Fair Play limitations.

There could also be a further €5m in performance-related bonuses to bring the total cost of the deal to €45m.

SportItalia warn there is one further hurdle, which is the commission owed to Kia Joorabchian for brokering the transfer.

Until that little detail is worked out, Joao Mario probably won’t fly in for his medical, although Sky Sport Italia are confident that’ll be within 48 hours.

He has already agreed terms with Inter, a contract to 2021 worth €3m per year.
