Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti didn’t reveal who will replace Victor Osimhen against Genoa and said the Partenopei must ‘be ready for something different’ at the Marassi.

The Partenopei started with a 2-0 win over Venezia last weekend and are travelling to Genoa in the last match before the international break.

“I expect the work we do to be followed up, we need to improve some things,” Spalletti said at a press conference. “Every time we come back, we analyse the match, like everyone else.

“The match is broken up and we talk about it with our professional players. It has been highlighted that hey have done many things well, some issues got in the way, but we moved those issues that had happened and therefore we also found a response from them.”

Spalletti must replace suspended Victor Osimhen against Genoa and was asked if he will replace him with Andera Petagna or someone else?

“I realise you have spies on the walls, checking out the horizon… That is the doubt, at least have one doubt, seeing as there aren’t any others.”

Lorenzo Insigne and Eljif Elmas scored against Venezia, as the Azzurri played almost 70 minutes with 10 men.

“I have almost always seen Napoli do beautiful things, then there are moments where the opponents create difficulties for you, the personality of maintaining clarity is fundamental and we did very well against Venezia,” Spalletti continued.

“Above all, after the missed penalty, then there were also other situations and it could be the straw that deflected the attitude and highlighted a weak mind, while the mind is strong.”

Spalletti admitted he has not studied Genoa’s 4-0 defeat to Inter ahead of the match on Sunday and expects a ‘different’ Rossoblu.

“It’s better not to study them,” he said. “It will be a different Genoa, it’s an environment that transfers an attitude, a particular atmosphere, we will have to be ready for something different,” he said.

“They also faced a strong opponent, they haven’t even done so badly, nothing changes for us. You must always show your strength in every environment.”
