Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti has cooled suggestions he could replace Cesare Prandelli on the Italy bench after World Cup 2014.

The latter is expected to return to club football once the tournament in Brazil ends and Spalletti is one of numerous contenders to suceed him.

“To be honest, I hope that Prandelli remains,” the former Udinese” data-scaytid=”11″>Udinese and Roma tactician commented. “It would be important that he did.

“That is because he has done some important work and it would be very complicated to find a Coach like him.

“My situation? I still have a year left on my contract with Zenit and I want to stay – even if we all know that Coaches can be sacked.

“I am fortunate enough to be working right now so if Prandelli was to go then I hope the job goes to someone who is free at that moment.”

Spalletti, 54, has been with his present Russian club since December 2009. He’s won the Russian League, Cup and Super Cup during his time in Saint Petersburg.
