Luciano Spalletti outlined his ‘three rules for being champions’ after Napoli won the Scudetto, also the first Serie A title of his coaching career.

The Partenopei did enough with a 1-1 draw away to Udinese last night to ensure they could not be caught at the top of the table with five rounds to spare.

With a post on his Instagram page, Spalletti gave his description of the secret to their success.

“Three rules for being Champions: Passionate city… Fantastic players… And strong destinies! Thank you, lads, thank you Napoli!”

This was the third Scudetto for Napoli after the Diego Armando Maradona era in 1987 and 1990.

As for Spalletti, he becomes the oldest ever coach to win his debut Serie A title at the age of 64 years and 58 days.

He beat the previous record set by Maurizio Sarri at Juventus in 2019-20, when he was aged 61 years and 203 days.

It is technically not the first league title of Spalletti’s career, as he had also won two Russian Premier League trophies with Zenit St. Petersburg in 2009-10 and 2011-12.
