The Nerazzurri had won seven in a row in all competition, but were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Champions League midweek.
“What we really wanted to focus on was not being as passive as we were in our last game. We have to react to things that don’t go the way we want or expect,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“The players sent me a sign yesterday that they have realised this and will no longer sit around to wait and see how things progress.”
Stefan de Vrij and Keita Balde Diao are former Lazio men now working with Spalletti.
“The most reassuring sight for this Coach was watching the team train yesterday and their intensity. We are capable of balancing everyone’s needs, including those who had setbacks at the start of the season.
"There are many clubs targeting the top four and to achieve that is like winning the title."
Radja Nainggolan was sorely missed when out injured for the Champions League loss to Barcelona.
“Nainggolan has his own qualities and characteristics, but we have a squad big enough to replace anyone and always step on to the field with fresh legs.
“Radja will start running today in training and we’ll see how the foot reacts. It’s one thing if it hurts, another if he pushes down on the ground to give him that forward momentum.”
Spalletti has been accused of under-using star names like Lautaro Martinez and Keita Balde Diao.
“With such a strong squad, someone has to sit out, so you try to make it a more winnable game. When there are players of that level and experience, they can change it with a moment of quality.”
