Luciano Spalletti has likened Inter new boy Radja Nainggolan to Italian antihero Diabolik, suggesting Roma tried to manage the midfielder too much.

Nainggolan has reunited with Spalletti after arriving from Roma in a €24m deal, and the Inter boss believes he has what it takes to get the best out of the Belgian.

“The club are working well, we have a better squad than a year ago and we’ll have 20 good players who will let us win games,” he said at a Press conference.

“The new faces have already grasped the concept of belonging. Now Inter have a different appeal. Now no-one rules out coming here beforehand.

“Lautaro? He’s mature for someone his age, he’s good at receiving the ball back to goal and has great character.

“Politano is great at running with the ball at speed and De Vrij manages to put the ball back into play immediately.

“Nainggolan? Ah, we signed him too? He’s as you see him, very transparent. He’s someone who doesn’t deceive you when you look at him.

“He pays the price for being someone who lives without a cover: someone might not like him, but we do…

“Nainggolan is Diabolik, it’s impossible to control him. He has a good heart and he’ll want to show his quality to Inter.

“Salcedo is like Karamoh, Asamoah is complete and perfect for helping us take steps forward. He can play in several roles, is mature and has both physical and technical qualities.

“Only 21 players in our Champions League squad? We’ll have enough players for Europe, but we’ll have to make good choices.

“The real difficulty will be having to tell a couple of players that they can’t be in the squad, but we’ll have to be ready to accept that.

“In any case we know who we are, and this eradicates any doubts as to how we’ll approach our matches against the top teams.”
