Zenit Coach Luciano Spalletti was beaten 3-0 by Malaga and warns “it’s going to be tough for Milan,” although he stands up for Massimiliano Allegri.

The Russians are in Champions League Group C and were hammered 3-0 by the Spaniards in the opening game.

“I expected Malaga to be a good team, despite their President leaving this summer,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia.

“They replaced many of the departing players and have great quality in attack. However, I didn’t expect them to score so many goals, so it’s going to be tough for Milan.

“Isco is precise and talented with great technique. He isn’t particularly strong in the one-on-one, but does not offer reference points and knows how to play the ball.”

Allegri earned a respite with a 3-2 victory over Zenit, but the Milan boss could well be axed if he loses to Malaga this evening.

“In Italy this type of situation can happen. It’d be a shame for Massimiliano, who has done a good job since taking over and proved he can handle a big club,” continued Spalletti.

“Unfortunately I get the feeling there are some people who make hay out of criticising Allegri.”

Zenit take on Anderlecht in the early Champions League kick-off.
