The Nerazzurri have the opportunity to leapfrog Napoli to rediscover top spot with a win over Chievo on Sunday and remain the only unbeaten side, as Napoli lost 1-0 to Juve last night.

Sarri commented that Inter were playing “a different sport” because they only had one game per week, having failed to qualify for Europe.

“It seems the same sport to me…” replied Spalletti in today’s Press conference.

“If you finish in the top four, you get into the Champions League, after that there’s the Europa League, otherwise you play end of season friendlies.

“Juventus won six Scudetti playing constantly. If Sarri wants to try out our experience, he can finish seventh and play this whole other sport. We’d love to play three or four games per week!

“As Sarri often says, anyone can win two or three games in a row, but for three or four months it’s more difficult. We must be one of those two or three who are challenging to the end.”

Allegri suggested Inter and Napoli are the Scudetto favourites, despite last night’s Juventus victory at the Stadio San Paolo.

“Juventus are the strongest, I’ve said it from the start,” noted Spalletti. “They are best-equipped and have the most strength in depth with extraordinary quality. They continue to get results, even with rough starts to the season, and showed against Napoli what they are capable of.”

The tactician has certainly made the most of the situation by keeping squad rotation to an absolute minimum.

“The fact we won playing the same line-up doesn’t mean we wouldn’t have won with changes. The players must never forget they are part of Inter, of a team known throughout the world for is strength, fans and history. They are obliged to train to the max in every situation and be ready when called upon. There are no alibis for someone in our squad.”
