Luciano Spalletti appreciates Napoli players, and according to reports in Italy, he believes the Azzurri don’t need many signings in the summer to be competitive.

Spalletti signed a two-year deal with Napoli, but according to Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the Azzurri have an option to extend his stay at the club until 2025.

The coach’s €2.7m-a-year salary will rise to €2.8m in 2022 and could reach €3.5m if Napoli qualify for the Champions League or win the Scudetto.

Aurelio De Laurentiis is planning the club’s transfer strategies with the new coach, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Spalletti believes the Azzurri don’t need many new signings to be competitive and fight for a top four finish.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Spalletti is aware one or two players could leave as Napoli need to slash their wage by 30 per cent.

The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Fabian Ruiz have attracted the interest of some top European clubs and will be adequately replaced if they leave.

Koulibaly reportedly wants to meet De Laurentiis to discuss his future at the club, and Napoli are open to selling him for at least €60m.
