Sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora says a decision on when clubs can resume training in Italy will be made ‘in the next few days’.

Spadafora met Italian football chiefs on Wednesday afternoon to discuss when football in the country could resume amidst the coronavirus pandemic, starting with training early next month.

Although a date could not be determined, the politician confirmed one was imminent.

“I listened to the different positions taken with great attention,” he said after the meeting.

“I listened to the different positions taken with great attention,” he said after the meeting.

“In the next few days, after a discussion with the Minister of Health and the Technical Scientific Committee, we’ll issue updated rules regarding the possibility of restarting training sessions.

“The meeting allowed us to further analyse the aspects related to the possible resumption of training in maximum safety for sportspeople and coaches of sports clubs.”
