Fiorentina Coach Paulo Sousa insists “a team with our quality must remain in Europe” ahead of the Belenenses match.

The Viola are currently in second place in Group I, and would be knocked out of the competition with a defeat to the Portuguese side.

With a big clash with Juventus looming at the weekend, it has been suggested that the Tuscan side could focus on Serie A, but the Coach dismisses that idea.

“The game tomorrow is incredibly important for us,” Sousa insisted in his pre-match Press conference.

With a big clash with Juventus looming at the weekend, it has been suggested that the Tuscan side could focus on Serie A, but the Coach dismisses that idea.

“The game tomorrow is incredibly important for us,” Sousa insisted in his pre-match Press conference.

“A club like Fiorentina, and a team with our quality must remain in Europe. After a difficult start in the group, we want to finish well and still be in the hunt come February.

“I hope our fans can help us, only after will we start to think about the game on Sunday. We have to stay focused.

“Whoever plays will have to only think about winning from the first minute of the game.

“Rotation? There are several possibilities, [Giuseppe] Rossi and [Khouma] Babacar play in tandem. Tomorrow’s game is very important, we’ll need maximum concentration, regardless of who is on the pitch.

“What counts is the work.

“Our opponents are going through a good period, not least because of the characteristics of some of their players.

“They’ll aim to counter-attack, and we have to work on that. We’re a team that tries to force the play, and when the teams we face force us to defend, they can cause us problems.

“We have to provide rhythm, intensity and pace for the game tomorrow, to allow us to reach the goal and create chances in the opposition box.

“We have to be protagonists in the game tomorrow, we have to keep the ball and exploit our opponents on the wing and in the middle to secure a win.”
