“Playing for the national team is the dream of all youngsters,” the former Torino and AEK Athens man noted.
“It’s about time that someone important came to watch me in action – and I’m talking about the Italian national side.
“There are a few of my colleagues who are considered for Azzurri inclusion after making some good saves for two games, whereas I’ve been doing that for four years…”
Sorrentino, who was highly impressive in this weekend’s game against Catania, joined Chievo in 2008.
The 32-year-old was targeted by Juventus in the summer of 2010, but the Old Lady opted to sign Marco Storari instead.
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli’s Giro Azzurro goalkeepers are recognised as Gigi Buffon, the currently injured Emiliano Viviano, Morgan De Sanctis and Salvatore Sirigu.
