Roma President James Pallotta reveals billionaire George Soros broke off a deal to buy the club with one day to spare.

The Giallorossi patron spoke to Sky Sport Italia as part of his presentation for the new Stadio della Roma project.

“Soros was interested around seven years ago and a friend of mine worked with him,” said Pallotta.

“The negotiations were interrupted the day before he was going to sign. Those with him told me they were about to put pen to paper, but some lawyers working on it tried to change things at the last minute.

“That prompted the Soros group to call off the deal.”

Pallotta’s American group bought out Roma in 2011.
