Roberto Soriano says it’s “nice to be appreciated” but “there’s only Sampdoria in my thoughts”.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Marassi in January, with his release clause set at €15m.

“A transfer away?” Soriano considered, speaking to Mediaset.

“That’s why there are clubs and agents, so I don’t have to talk about that! It’s nice to be appreciated, but I’ve been in Genoa for six years and I’m happy.

The Blucerchiati face Juventus on Sunday evening, and the Italian international is looking forward to facing the Old Lady, as well as Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, who brought him to Samp.

“For years they’ve been the strongest team in Italy, but the derby gave us a positive boost, so we’ll play. We’ve already done big things at Marassi.

“I’m grateful to Marotta and Paratici, but it’ll be nice to have them as opponents this Sunday.”

Sampdoria won the Derby della Lanterna 3-2 against Genoa, and Soriano believes it was the perfect way to start 2016.

“We couldn’t have started 2016 better. We won the derby, which is very important in the city, and I scored two goals

“It was a great victory, and we played a great game. We all sacrificed, it was a great result which was down to the whole squad.

“The most important thing is to have taken home the three points. We’re finally putting into practice what the Coach [Vincenzo Montella] is asking of us.

“I have to say thanks to my teammates, especially [Antonio] Cassano who have me two great balls. Antonio is a champion.

“The Coaching change is bringing new ideas, it requires a bit of time to make it work. We have quality players, and now the requirement is to keep the ball on the deck and make a lot of passes.

“It’s a different way of playing than before.”
