The last few days have seen several sources claim Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini is in London this weekend for negotiations.

Many believe he is discussing Mehdi Benatia’s possible sale to Chelsea or Manchester United, even though Bayern Munich have suddenly leapt into the lead in that €30m race.

It is also thought that Sabatini is in talks with Tottenham for striker Destro, whose price-tag is set at €25m.

Spurs are expected to offer a player in part-exchange to bring down that sum, but there are differing reports on the situation.

CNN and Radio Sportiva claim Tottenham have offered centre-forward Soldado as part of the deal.

The 29-year-old came to London from Valencia in August 2013 for €28m, boasting spells at Getafe and Real Madrid too.

However, Sportmediaset insist Roma are unconvinced by Soldado, who scored six Premier League goals in 28 games, and would prefer the return to the Stadio Olimpico of Lamela.

The Argentine, nicknamed Coco, only left the Giallorossi for Spurs a year ago for €23m and has struggled to settle in to the Premier League.
