Wesley Sneijder insists his international teammate Nigel De Jong is happy at Milan and wants to stay at the club.

The duo are on World Cup duty together with Netherlands and there are rumours that De Jong will overcome a groin injury to feature in Louis Van Gaal’s team’s semi-final against Argentina tonight.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport today, former Inter man Sneijder also revealed he once tried to lure his compatriot to the other half of Milan.

“Nigel on the pitch? Maybe, we need his personality,” 30-year-old Sneijder said.

“I don’t know anything about the rumours linking him to Inter. What I do know is that I wanted to bring him to Inter two years ago, but then it didn’t happen.

“But now Nigel is happy at Milan and he will stay there.”
