Chris Smalling admits Paulo Dybala brings ‘star quality’ to the Roma squad, as La Joya starts the Europa League Final against Sevilla this evening.

It kicks off at the Puskas Arena in Budapest at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

“I can’t wait to get started. We can’t let these fans down, we mustn’t have any regrets,” Smalling told Sky Sport Italia.

The big news is that Dybala has passed a fitness test and will start the match in Budapest, despite spraining his ankle on April 24 and only playing a handful of minutes since then.

“We know Dybala has star quality, we know how important he is.”

This is the second consecutive UEFA Final for Roma, who beat Feyenoord in Tirana to lift the first ever edition of the Conference League last season.

“There are many more fans today compared to the Conference League Final.”

Smalling was also asked whether victory could have any effect on whether Mourinho remains at Roma or walks away.

“We are concentrated on the game. Mourinho is a top level coach.”

There is also an ulterior motive, because a victory in this Final would give Roma automatic qualification for the Champions League group phase next season.

As they are outside the top four in Serie A, that would mean having five Italian clubs in the competition.
