CSKA Moscow Coach Leonid Slutski confessed that Roma “tore us to shreds” in a 5-1 thrashing.

“We were entirely unprepared for that start and failed straight away,” he told NTV after seeing his side trail 4-0 by the 31st minute.

“We were not ready. I don’t know if it was a psychological issue or a technical one too. It is certainly my fault, as I couldn’t find the right words or make the correct adjustments.

“We had a few chances, but did not take them. We were never in control of the game and were too timid.

“We were torn to pieces and completely lacked organisation.”

Meanwhile, several CSKA Moscow fans have been arrested at the Stadio Olimpico after attacking stewards and throwing flares at the Roma section.

Calm was restored after riot police came into the stands.

There are two injured CSKA fans who were hurt in clashes with Roma ultras outside the stadium before the game.

It’s reported the Russian supporters broke down a barrier to reach the Roma fans, but one was left with a minor stab wound and another a head injury from a bottle.
