Sky Sport Italia claim Juventus have contacted Edinson Cavani after finding difficulty for Luis Suarez and Edin Dzeko.

It would be a surprising move for the Uruguay international, who is a free agent after his PSG contract was allowed to expire.

The former Palermo and Napoli centre-forward had been on the verge of a deal with Benfica, who pulled out when they considered his wage demands to be excessive.

Like Barcelona forward Suarez, Cavani is a Uruguay international and they are also the same age, both turning 33 in January and February respectively.

While Suarez would need to negotiate his exit from Barcelona and get an EU passport so as not to take up a slot in the squad, Cavani already has an Italian passport.

However, reports in Brazil are increasingly confident that Cavani will sign for Gremio.

Dzeko is increasingly unconvinced by the idea of leaving Roma for Juventus or Inter, so with the start of the season fast approaching, Cavani would be an intriguing option.

He already has 213 Serie A games under his belt, scoring 112 goals.
