Sky Sport Italia have reported that Italy’s 2006 World Cup-winning midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is close to making a move to Saudi Arabia, with several sides reportedly interested in appointing the 45-year-old.
Gattuso has been out of work since the beginning of 2023, having been relieved of his duties as coach of Valencia after an underwhelming spell in LaLiga.
The former Milan and Napoli coach is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is reported by Sky to be in close conversation with several Saudi clubs.
Sky also highlights that a final decision could be reached by the end of Saturday evening, although nothing is yet guaranteed.
This would be Gattuso’s fourth spell managing outside of Italy, following brief spells with Sion, OFI Crete and Valencia since calling it a day on his playing career in 2013.
