President Antonio Percassi said he was “optimistic” about keeping his tactician and will be meeting him again “for coffee tomorrow. Then we’ll know.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, Gasperini has agreed a new contract with Atalanta worth €2m per season that will run to June 2022.

Gasp had received an offer from Roma, but was convinced to remain with Atalanta after promises they would not sell top stars, instead strengthening their squad for this Champions League campaign.
