The former Sampdoria defender was quoted as telling Sport he had received “a breath-taking offer” in January and listed Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United as preferred destinations.

“I never thought or said that I wanted to leave Inter,” wrote Skriniar on Instagram.

“It is an honour for me to be here! I don’t know who translated the words from Slovakian, but they didn’t do it very well.”
