Slovenian referee Damir Skomina has been chosen to take charge of Roma’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Liverpool.

The two clubs go head-to-head at the Olimpico on Wednesday evening as Roma look to overturn a 5-2 deficit for a place in the Final.

Skomina has already presided over four fixtures involving Italian teams this season, with varying degrees of success for the latter.

He ran the rule over Napoli’s 2-0 victory at Nice, which secured the Partenopei’s qualification for the Champions League group stage, as well as their 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk.

However, the 41-year-old also oversaw Juve’s 3-0 defeat to Barcelona on the opening group matchday, although the Giallorossi battled to a 3-3 draw with Chelsea in his third match.

Officiating the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich is Cuneyt Cakir of Turkey.
