Whilst excited by Friday’s Champions League draw, Napoli’s Salvatore Aronica has reiterated that focus at the moment is only on Serie A.

The Partenopei defender was speaking to the gathered media at the unveiling of his club’s 2012 calendar. He took time to reiterate Gokhan Inler’s earlier words, insist that the League was Napoli’s primary focus and that he is looking to renew his contract.

“Barcelona or Real Madrid in the Champions League first knockout round so as to see the San Paolo filled. I think that in this competition there are no easy opponents,” began Aronica.

“Whatever the draw, I would say that our mental and physical energies are being directed towards the match on Sunday night against Roma, which is very important for us.

Aronica took the opportunity when asked what he would like for Christmas to reiterate where focus for the team lies.

“Six points, i.e. wins over Roma and Genoa. To close the year with two wins would be a  nice gift for us, for our President and for the fans.

“We know that Roma will be tough even if they are not having the best of times. It will be a challenge against a team that has changed so much but that always gives us a hard time.”

The 33-year-old’s contract expires next summer, but he also confirmed that he is looking to extend his deal and will hold talks in the coming month.

“Every year there is talk but what matters is what I do. I hope I can extend my stay in Naples, but such things are not just down to me.

“Being as it is around Christmas, I think that [Aurelio] De Laurentiis will be more malleable. We will meet and discuss, on my part there is the will to extend.”
