Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin's knee operation was successful, but he’ll be out for around six months.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Italian international had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, ruling him out for the rest of the season, as well as Euro 2016.

“Genoa Cricket and Football Club announces that Mattia Perin’s operation to reconstruct his anterior cruciate ligament was a complete success,” the Grifone announced on their official website.

“The operation, performed by professor Pier Paolo Mariani at Villa Stuart, was completed within an hour.

“The estimated time for a return to full activity is set at five to six months.”
