Sion President Christian Constantin confirms his club is in talks with Mario Balotelli.

The Italian striker is contracted with the Turkish side Adana Demirspor until 2024, but a summer exit is on the cards.

The former Inter, Milan and Liverpool striker has recently hinted that he could move to La Liga, where Gennaro Gattuso’s Valencia are said to be interested in securing his services.

Sion President Constantin has now confirmed that the Swiss side are in talks with the Italy international.

“It’s true. We’ve been in talks for a few weeks,” he told Blick.

“Today it is impossible for me to predict the chances of success of the transfer,” he continued.

“We wanted it to remain secret, but the information apparently leaked in Italy. This is a signal that there is interest on both sides.”

Balotelli scored 18 goals in 31 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig last season. He has 52 goals in 141 Serie A games where he has played with Inter, Milan and Brescia.

His last season in Italy was in Serie B with Monza, but ‘Super Mario’ failed to meet expectations in Italy’s second division scoring just six goals in 14 appearances in 2020-21. The 31-year-old also played for OGC Nice, Liverpool and Manchester City.
