Roma midfielder Fabio Simplicio insists he is looking forward to facing off against his former club Palermo this weekend.

The 31-year-old Brazilian spent four years in Sicily before moving to Roma on a free transfer this summer.

Interviewed on Sky Italia, he said: "It will be emotional to return to Palermo and to meet the friends and people who supported me until the end of my time there.

"There are many beautiful things that I remember, but the most beautiful was the friendship with the people who have nothing to do with football.

Asked about the acrimonious nature of his departure, Simplicio said: "There are no longer problems between Zamparini and I.

"I said that I would honour my contract until it expired and I did.

"Zamparini told me that if an important team came in for me he would let me go."
