Coach Stefano Pioli believes Giovanni Simeone is “a perfect player” for his Fiorentina side.
The striker, son of Atletico Madrid Coach Diego, officially signed for the Viola from Genoa yesterday, for a reported €15m plus €3m in bonuses.
“He’s a perfect player for us, given his desire and hunger for goals,” Pioli told Corriere dello Sport.
“The directors are responsible [for the transfer campaign] but we’ve made very specific choices together.

“When I arrived I knew we’d have to change a lot, that was always going to be the case when we decided to start on a new path.
“[Marco] Sportiello is exuberant, Bruno Gaspar is willing but needs to understand the mechanisms of our play.
“Jordan Veretout? He’s a mix of quantity and quality, he knows how to win the ball against an opponent and start the play again.
“As for Valentin Eysseric, I knew him as an opponent at Lazio when he scored a goal against us. He’s a quality player, he can play as a trequartista or left-winger. He has so much talent to express.
“Gil Dias? I wanted a left-winger, one with his features. He’s attacking, he knows where the goal is, he can dribble, he tries to make space for his teammates and he can take a man on.”
