Matias Silvestre is hoping to prove himself with a regular run in the side as a result of Inter’s injury crisis.

The Nerazzurri are without injured centre-backs Cristian Chivu, Walter Samuel and Andrea Ranocchia for the next three weeks, which should open the door for the Argentine.

“It's never easy when you're playing on and off and I hope to get the chance to play a bit more regularly,” stated the man on loan from Palermo.

“I've had less opportunities to play recently, but the team has been doing well so it's only right that they should continue.

“In any case, it's up to the boss to decide these things. I’m always ready to help when needed.”

Silvestre, 28, has been restricted to just three Serie A appearances so far this season following his summer switch.

“I'm aware that I've joined a great team where there is a lot of competition for places,” he continued.

“I've answered when I've been called upon and I try to make the most of every opportunity I get. I've always had a very open relationship with the Coach and I'll give it everything I've got.”

Silvestre could see some action against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League this evening.

“As we saw in the first game, we're up against a very technical team with young, talented players. We must remain focused and try to stop them from playing their game.”
