Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has reassured anxious fans that the club will still be playing Serie A football in 2013-14.

The Rossoblu have had a problematic start to the season and even the decision to replace boss Gigi De Canio with Gigi Del Neri has not improved results.

The port club are just a point above the drop zone, but Preziosi maintains that the Marassi outfit will stay up.

“I can today assure you that Genoa will not go down to Serie B,” he stated. “It’s right that the fans are getting angry, but we need to react and leave this negative moment behind us.

“I understand the supporters, but at this moment in time it is important that we feel that they are close to us.”

Genoa, who face Napoli this weekend, have lost their last four games – their last three by 1-0 scorelines.
